Released in 1990, NeXTSTEP 2.0 was the second major OS release for the NeXT hardware platform. It included support for the NeXTstation, and NeXTcube.

The NeXTSTEP 2.0 desktop.

This version of the file manager has a number of refinements. The columns now use scroll bars instead of up and down buttons. Instead of a single icon off to the right, it now has a set of icons above the columns. These double as a representation of the current path.

Each file browser window also has an icon "shelf" at the top, that holds common locations.

The "Black Hole" trash can is now a "Recycler"

NeXTSTEP 2.0 Browser Views
The different views are also changed slightly. There is now a single detailed list view. Icons and list views now also have a "shelf".

NeXTSTEP 2.0 Services
A "services" menu item lets you send selected files directly to certain applications.

NeXTSTEP 2.0 Window List
A list of an application's currently open windows now appears in the application's menu.

NeXTSTEP 2.0 MS-DOS Disks
NeXTSTEP can now read and write MS-DOS formatted floppy disks. Later NeXT hardware has a built in 2.88mb floppy drive.

In the Previous emulator you can connect a raw disk image (or other raw FAT volume) as a SCSI device.
