Why is it important that I let Microsoft fuck me over?

Why does Microsoft think the DOJ is trying to take away their ability to "innovate"

Because Microsoft equates "creating products based new ideas" with "shoving stupid products based on those ideas down users throats whether or not they want them".

But I LIKE Windows 98&2000/IE and using a web browser to view my hard drive, so what is the big deal?

Not everybody likes or wants Internet Explorer with Windows. Some people do. The correct design decision for microsoft would have been to include IE as an add/removable component like Hyperterminal or Dial-Up Networking. But instead they made IE mandatory for the sole purpose of crushing competition. Now users who do not want this "innovation" do not have a choice. Since microsoft has a monopoly on the desktop OS market, this is also illegal.

Why does microsoft want "freedom to innovate" (aka "Fuck users over")?
